Magenta Living supports Starts at Home Day 2023

Justin Madders, MP for Ellesmere Port & Neston chats to residents of Hartley Place on Starts at Home day

Magenta Living, Wirral’s largest Housing Association, joined other associations nationwide to celebrate Starts at Home Day on Friday, 1 September.

Starts at Home Day was launched in 2015 by the National Housing Federation to celebrate supported housing and the vital difference it makes to thousands of people on a daily basis.

It is a day of celebration, to shine a light on all the brilliant work housing associations do to provide crucial care and support to residents, help people to live independent and happy lives and to build thriving communities.

But Starts at Home Day is also our day to call for a better future for supported housing – our chance to say what supported housing needs from the next government.

Magenta Living’s Executive Director of Customers and Communities, Andy Lomas, said:

“Starts at Home Day is important to us because it’s a great opportunity for us to join together with other housing associations to show the real impact of these services.

“That’s why we hosted events on Friday at three of our supported housing schemes – Hartley Place Extra Care, Barncroft Extra Care and Sunningdale.  We were delighted to welcome Justin Madders MP to Hartley Place Extra Care in Ellesmere Port, along with local politicians to each scheme.

“This gave us the opportunity to showcase the wonderful facilities we have and to show how proud we are of the work that our colleagues do on a daily basis, making a positive difference in so many people’s lives.”

At Magenta Living, we offer a range of supported accommodation to meet customer needs, including retirement living and accommodation for homeless people and those with learning disabilities.

We currently have two stylish extra care facilities - Hartley Place and Barncroft Extra Care - offering independent living and quality of life in modern accessible apartments with access to care and communal facilities.  Care and support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is tailored to the individual’s needs.

But don’t take our word for it!  Below are a couple of quotes from residents in Hartley Place:

“It is like a hotel. The bistro is great. I love the bingo. Joanna is a very good manager. The carers are soon there when I press my buzzer. I love it here.” – Linda

“I love living at Hartley Place. Mainly, I feel comfortable, safe and have a fantastic time with the various entertainment that Joanna puts on for us. It’s our own little, but friendly community. I feel very lucky to have such lovely staff looking after us.” Olwyn

And we are very excited to see our third extra care facility, Sycamore Place, taking shape and due to open later this year in Wallasey.
