Communities unite at Magenta Living’s event
Magenta Living hosted a special annual event recently thanking involved residents who play an important part in building our communities and helping to shape our services.
Held at Wallasey Town Hall, ‘Connecting Communities’ was this year’s theme. The programme involved an organisational update from Magenta Living’s Chief Executive Brian Simpson, discussions around the many ongoing community projects, some fun activities like the diary room style video feedback and the opportunity to share ideas with other tenants about improving neighbourhoods.
Around 80 tenants, covering all 21 Magenta Living neighbourhoods across Wirral attended the day, all of whom volunteer in some capacity in projects like; running community centres, being a ‘block champion’ (monitoring standards in blocks of flats), being a residents association member or many other ways.
Joan and Syd Keates, residents from Sunningdale said: “I would just like to thank you for inviting us along and making us feel very welcome. We both had a most enjoyable day.”
Wirral Radio were there playing special requests whilst broadcasting live across the borough. The radio station also held interviews with personnel from Magenta Living and Muriel Wilkinson, one of our Tenant Board Directors.
Wirral's Mayor, Councillor Pat Hackett also came along to show his support, pictured here, holding the 'Magenta Living Selfie Board'.
Jamie Martin, Head of Community Regeneration at Magenta Living says: “It was a fantastic day; seeing tenants all come together to celebrate and enjoy their achievements was incredibility rewarding. The discussion tables proved to be invaluable and we have lots of great ideas to improve of services going forward from the people that matter the most – our tenants.”
