Magenta Living staff help two homeless charities in the run up to Christmas
Rising to the challenge, Wirral based Magenta Living, who employs over 500 staff have been collecting items throughout November covering everything from food, warm clothing and toiletries. The collection target was 500 items which was exceeded and took less than a month to collect. All donations will now be split between the two worthy causes and delivered this week.
Organised by Anita Kenton, Community Engagement Lead Officer at Magenta Living, she says: “Christmas is a time for giving and we feel it’s important to support the great work charities like The Whitechapel Centre and NBDT do. My colleagues at Magenta Living have been very generous and I’m very proud to be part of a team whose efforts will hopefully make a big difference to those who are the most vulnerable in our society.”
The Whitechapel Centre opened its doors back in 1975 to meet the needs of homeless people in Liverpool. With 80 staff and 40 volunteers, this year’s Christmas appeal offers so many ways for people to help out; donating goods, volunteering, buying Christmas cards, setting up monthly cash donations or simply making one-off payments – their £25 package provides breakfast, lunch and a gift for a rough sleeper on Christmas Day.
NBDT based at St James Centre in Birkenhead is also looking to spread a little Christmas cheer by asking for shoe box/hamper style donations including; toiletries, hats, scarf’s and gloves plus non-perishable food. All donations will be distributed at the centre’s Hot Food Hub on Friday 23 December.
Magenta Living’s community cafe/shop on Mill Park Drive, Eastham has also benefited from this company wide collection and surplus donations will be going to help fund the running of the centre.
