Magenta Living celebrates ‘most innovative project’ on #HousingDay

Housing Day is one of the biggest social events in Magenta Living’s calendar, and this year, the 19 September was celebrated through a community Pokemon Hunt in Hamilton Square.

As the Wirral’s largest provider of social housing, Magenta Living was keen to do something different to mark the event – so they stepped into the virtual world of Pokemon Go using the hashtag #MLPokeHunt.

This growing phenomenon has been proven to engage with people of all ages, so Magenta Living seized the opportunity to ‘lure’ a captive audience to play the game, and most importantly advise them about how to apply for properties.

Known as a ‘social media action day’, #Housing Day marks the start of #HousingWeek, which was devised by the National Housing Federation to highlight the difference organisations like Magenta Living make connecting communities.

Founder of #HousingDay Adrian Capon, Tweeted: “For #HousingDayChat most innovative today see’s @MagentaLive using Pokemon gaming to engage community”.

On the day, Magenta Living dealt with over 100 enquiries; from tenant repairs to employment opportunities, and engaged with a significant number of gamers who worked hard to capture the rarest Pokemon.

Results of the #MLPokeHunt competition will be announced shortly. Jamie Martin, Head of Community Regeneration at Magenta Living says: “Housing Day gives us the chance to shout about the great work we do surrounding community engagement. Whether you understand the world of virtual gaming or not, our Pokemon event undoubtedly united people, which is fantastic.”
