Navajo Accreditation Success
Magenta Living recently attended the Navajo Awards Ceremony at the City of Liverpool Arts college, where we were delighted to be awarded the Navajo, Merseyside and Cheshire, LGBTIQA Accreditation.
We have been awarded the accreditation for our progress and on-going commitment towards the inclusion of the LGBTIQA communities at Magenta Living. Our accreditation is signifies the good practice, commitment and knowledge of the specific needs, issues and barriers facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTIQA) people in Merseyside and Cheshire.
Terriann Waldock, Magenta Living’s EDI Project Officer said:
“Completing our Navajo Accreditation was a great opportunity for us to look back on the progress we have made over the last 18 months.
“Part of our EDI strategy is to grow our culture to be open, diverse and inclusive. We want to enable colleagues to come to work as who they are, not who they think they should be to fit into a certain environment, and I truly hope that we are on our way to achieving this. The Navajo awards were a great opportunity to hear from people within Merseyside, to listen to their challenges and celebrate their success.
“I was truly in awe of some of the speakers and award recipients and it makes me want to challenge us further to be an organisation where all colleagues can come to work, be themselves and feel valued, supported, and included. Although we have now received our accreditation, the hard work doesn’t stop here as we move forward working on our action plan with Navajo.”
Over the past year, we have been working hard and our achievements include the development and execution of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Strategy, EDI champions, a colleague networking group that is designed to support other colleagues, updated colleague training and adding additional outlets for recruitment including LGBT specific recruitment boards.
