New home and new start for Jamie and Rex
Magenta Living is delighted to be able to offer Jamie and his dog, Rex their forever home. Jamie has recently moved into his new home and is looking forward to achieving his long-term goal of a secure and warm home for him and Rex.
Jamie first became known to YMCA Wirral in September 2019, when he was found sleeping in a tent with his dog Rex. For most of his adult life, Jamie struggled with addiction which resulted in him becoming homeless with his beloved dog, Rex. Jamie struggled to find a place to stay where he would be able to take Rex with him, and for Jamie, being separated from Rex wasn’t an option.
Working in close partnership with YMCA Wirral, Magenta Living were able to find Jamie a suitable home for him and Rex.
Justin Danher, Magenta Living’s Head of Specialist Housing Services said ‘We’re proud to work closely with YMCA Wirral and Wirral Borough Council to provide homes for those who have found themselves homeless.
There’s often a misconception that customers who have pets cannot be considered for social housing, but at Magenta Living, we take all circumstances into account. Whilst many landlords would discourage having pets in their rented homes, we take a holistic approach towards the individual and their pet, ensuring the property meets their needs.’
Through the support and dedication of YMCA Wirral, Jamie found himself some safe warm accommodation for him and Rex, and he was able to access services that he could not access previously. Jamie has worked hard over the last two and a half years, building up his confidence and gaining the skills to help him live independently within the local community.
Magenta Living would like to wish Jamie and Rex a happy and healthy 2023 and will continue to support them both in their new home.
